Avenue 3E Bridge, Gila Ridge Road to 24th Street

A contractor working for ADOT will improve and widen the Avenue 3E Bridge located between Gila Ridge Road and 24th Street in Yuma. The project is a cooperative effort between ADOT and the City of Yuma and is scheduled for completion in summer 2013.

The project includes widening the bridge over the railroad tracks from two to six lanes with a center median, new pavement, and pedestrian walkways. Two-way traffic is expected to be maintained during expansion of the bridge, which will be built to include three lanes each direction when complete. There will be some speed limit reductions during this project.

Avenue A, 8th Street to 16th Street

The reconstruction of Avenue A between 8th Street and 16th Street is scheduled to begin construction Oct. 1. At present, plans call for reconstructing Avenue A in two-block increments to minimize impact on Avenue A residents. The project will also be timed so that work directly in front of O.C. Johnson Elementary School will take place during the school's winter break.

Giss Parkway, 4th Avenue to 1st Avenue

Work on the new Fire Station 1 will require a closure of the eastbound right lane of Giss Parkway from just east of 4th Avenue to 1st Avenue so crews can conduct a concrete tie-in for the new driveway. This phase is expected to continue through Sept. 28.

Avenue C, from 8th Street North

Avenue C is open to local traffic only between 5th Street and Riverside Drive in this Yuma County street widening and City water main installation project. Through traffic should use Avenue B between 8th Street and 1st Street.

Avenue C at 22nd Street

Century Link will install cable in the area of Avenue C and 22nd Street for 5 days before the end of October. Lane restrictions will be imposed on Avenue C as needed.

City of Yuma Street Maintenance Locations Week of Sept. 24

City workers will conduct crack seal and grinding operations the week of Monday, Sept. 24 in the following locations:

• The Dunes subdivision
• La Paloma Estates
• Sundance Village

• Parkway Place subdivision
• 24th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B
