El Toro Bowl - 2011

Yuma, Arizona - The Caballeros de Yuma, Arizona Western College and the Matador Athletic Association are proud to bring you the return of the El Toro Bowl, a National Junior College Athletic Association football game. The El Toro Bowl will be played at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of Gila Ridge High School on December 3, 2011 at 2:30 pm. The EL Toro Bowl will matchup two nationally ranked teams and marks the return of the El Toro Bowl to Yuma after a thirty five year absence. On game day gates will open at noon. Pre-game activities and entertainment begin at noon with a variety of football fan food available for lunch at the stadium. Pre-game and half time entertainment will feature military involvement and local organizations as well as a chance for one fan to win $250.000.00 in the Hail Mary Throw sponsored by Time Warner Cable.

Reserve Tickets are $14.00 and General Admission are $10.00, however pre-game day prices from September 1 through December 2, 2011 as follows: Reserve Tickets are $12.00 and General Admission are $8.00. Ticket sale locations are at the Caballeros de Yuma office, 180 First Street (Old City Hall), the Arizona Western College Athletics Office and the AWC Foundation Office, located in Century Plaza, 281 West 24th Street, Suite 136.

On November 30, 2011 the newly established Arizona Western College Hall of Fame will honor the first inductees at the Hall of Fame Banquet. The first ever inductees are former AWC Football Coach Ray Butcher, the 1972 AWC National Championship Football Team and the late Dr. Kenneth Borland, President of Arizona Western College from 1977 through 1984. Coach Butcher and the 1972 Team will also be inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Football Hall of Fame. The El Toro Bowl Pre-Game Banquet honoring the two teams competing in the El Toro Bowl will be held on December 2, 2011. Both events are open to public, however tickets are limited to the first 500 people. Cost for each of the banquets is $25.00 per ticket. Both events will be held at the Schoening Center on the AWC campus. Tickets are available for both banquets at the same locations selling the game day tickets.

This is an event designed to showcase our community and will provide excitement through the entire week.
