Drive-By Shooting at the Tropicana Club

On Sunday, June 26, 2011, at 1:01am, Yuma Police Officers responded to the Tropicana Night Club, 185 S. Main Street after receiving multiple calls regarding gunshots heard.

The preliminary investigation revealed 25 year old, Edgar Torres of Yuma, fired a handgun several times into the air from his vehicle while leaving the bar.  Torres had just been involved in an altercation inside the establishment with another group of individuals.

No one was injured in the shooting nor any damages reported; however multiple casings were found at the scene and in and on top of Torres' vehicle.

Torres was charged with multiple felonies: Drive by shooting, Aggravated assault, Disorderly conduct with a weapon, Discharging a firearm in the city limits and misdemeanor: Disorderly Conduct.  He was booked in the Yuma County Adult Detention Center.
