On January 26th & 27th from 12 to 4:00 pm, the Yuma Police Department will host a Crime Free Multi-Housing Training Seminar. This seminar is the first-phase in a three-phase certification process. Participants must attend both days to complete the first phase.

The Seminar will take place at the Yuma Police Department, 1500 S. 1st Avenue in Community Training Rooms A & B.

Chief Jerry Geier said, "I encourage those operating rental properties to become involved with this program. The Crime Free Multi-Housing Program provides education and awareness to employees and fosters the reduction in police calls for service, a more stable resident base, and reduced exposure to civil liability."

The seminar is open to all owners, managers and staff of any Yuma area apartment community or multi-house rental property and is provided at no cost to the attendee. Some topics of discussion will include the following:

  • What is the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program?
  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
  • Applicant screening procedures
  • Combating Crime problems
  • Warning signs of illegal activity
  • Actions to take if illegal activity is discovered

For More Information

Anyone with questions about the seminar is invited to call the Yuma Police Department’s Public Affairs Unit at (928) 373-4733.
