City of Yuma Police Department Unveils the MRAP Vehicle

On Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. the Yuma Police Department will introduce our newly acquired Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Pro (MRAP) armored vehicle to the media. The unveiling will take place at the Yuma Police Department parking lot, 1500 S. 1st Avenue.

The vehicle which is ready to enter police service was acquired by the City of Yuma Police Department through the 1033 military program. The program allows approved law enforcement agencies to access military equipment for law enforcement operations. The armored vehicle will be utilized in conjunction with our Special Enforcement Team (SET) and high risk calls.

The vehicle will be on public display at the Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods (GAIN) event on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Target parking lot, 1450 S. Yuma Palms Parkway.
