Recreation

Recreation provides programs and activities for all ages from pre-school to senior adults. These include athletic programs, sports, leagues, instructional classes, outdoor recreation, aquatic programs, special events and adaptive recreation for people with special needs.

Adaptive

Programs for individuals’ with physical and/or developmental disabilities. The following are examples of the programs offered. Disc Golf

West Wetlands Park features a nine hole disc golf course. Disc golf is played by both beginners and experienced players of all ages and it isn’t just a game. It is a fun workout that provides upper and lower body conditioning, aerobic exercise, and encourages a combination of physical and mental abilities. Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. However, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. The object is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws.

Active adults are a vital part of the Yuma community.  Programs and activities offered through Yuma Parks and Recreation for adults and seniors include 3-D Art, Oil Painting, Pool Shooting, Softball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Wood Carving, Silversmith, Pastels, Pickleball, Porcelin Painting, and Belly Dancing.  Some of the most popular special events include the Wood Carving Expo, 3-D Art Exhibit and the City of Yuma Senior Games.
