It's About Keeping The Public Safe

On behalf of the 266 dedicated employees of the Yuma Police Department, thank you for taking the time to visit our new and improved web site. The site is designed to be informative, user friendly, and to provide another link of communication with members of our community.

Located in the southwest corner of Arizona bordering California, Yuma is a popular destination for tourists, winter visitors, and is a great place to live. With a population of approximately 90,000 and approximately 50,000 visitors in the winter months, Yuma is the largest city in Arizona outside the metro areas of Phoenix and Tucson. The City of Yuma encompasses 112 square miles and is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the sunniest place on earth, with 339 sunny days a year and less than four inches of rainfall annually.

Chief Jerry GeierAs the Chief of Police, I am truly excited by the positive changes that are happening right now in our City and at the Yuma Police Department. We recently conducted a major reorganization that will improve our levels of service to our community. With the combination of our exceptional team members and the outstanding support we receive from the citizens we serve, the Yuma Police Department is on track to become one of the premier law enforcement agencies in the state.

The Yuma Police Department offers a great opportunity for anyone seeking a career in law enforcement, including:  Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Traffic, Motors, Gangs, Narcotics, K-9, Training, SRO, Public Affairs, Crime Lab, Dispatch, SET, Hostage Negotiations, Honor Guard, Professional Standards and much more!

We hope that our web site provides you with practical and useful information. We encourage any feedback that you think will help our site serve you better. Thank you for joining us, and "Welcome to the Yuma Police Department."
